Nationwide Platforms IPAF training centres are now open for business and offering COVID-secure powered access training nationwide. Our training centres have followed rigorous safety guidance and procedures to ensure candidates can train in a safe environment.
Operators undertaking training for the first time can now take their practical test, complete their training and receive their Powered Access Licence (PAL Card).
All candidates must pass a practical test at an IPAF approved training centre to obtain their PAL Card.
Important Notice - Training Validity Extension – Ends 30th September 2020
As lockdown restrictions prevented training activities, IPAF asked the industry to support an extension to the validity of the PAL Card for 90 days beyond its expiry date. Where lockdowns are now easing, and training is resuming IPAF will now bring an end to this grace period.
Therefore, in areas where training has resumed, anyone who wants to continue operating powered access equipment must have successfully completed their training by 30 September 2020 when the extension ends. Anyone with an out of date PAL Card after this date will not be qualified to operate a MEWP, MCWP or Construction hoist.

Practical demonstrations are also included if machines are available.
IPAF: MEWPS for Managers Virtual Classroom
IPAF’s MEWPs for Managers course can now be delivered virtually via video conference with a Nationwide Platforms instructor. It provides the same high quality training as the classroom based with the benefit of sitting the course in the comfort of your own home. The course covers what managers need to know for safe and effective use of MEWPs on site, including planning the job, conducting a risk assessment, selecting the right equipment for optimum cost-efficiency and mitigating all possible risks.
