During the course, you’ll learn how to:
Identify the different types and components of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs)
Understand the features, limitations, and correct use of static boom lifts (IPAF category 1B)
Carry out pre-use inspections, safety checks, and emergency lowering procedures
Set up, position, and stabilise the equipment safely before operation
Apply relevant UK health and safety regulations and IPAF safe operating procedures
Navigate around common site hazards and work safely at height
Use controls and safety features effectively during operation
Follow correct shutdown and parking procedures
Pass both the written theory test and practical skills assessment required for certification
After successful completion, you’ll receive your IPAF 1B Certificate of Training and ePAL (electronic PAL Card), accessible via the free IPAF ePAL app.

Successful candidates will receive the IPAF 1B qualification and an IPAF Certificate of Training for this. If a physical PAL card and certificate are required these must be arranged with the training department prior to the course start date, at an additional charge of £15 plus VAT.
