Nationwide Platforms are pleased to offer a 1-day module designed to boost skills and build confidence in new and existing operators on larger MEWPs that may not typically feature in the IPAF Operator or IPAF PAL+ courses.

The course covers any machine with a working height above 13.7m (boom-type MEWPs) or 10m (scissor-type MEWPs) and can cover a maximum of 2 machine types in 1 day.

Course Objectives

The course can be tailored to the specific MEWP you are hiring and will cover the following:

1. Safety and operational aspects of the MEWP in use on your site

2. Practical experience in the use of larger MEWPs

3. BlueSky innovations with product specific familiarisation on the safety features fitted to the MEWP in use (if applicable)

Candidate Requirements

Candidates will be required to have an existing IPAF 3A/3B certification and a level of literacy that enables them to fully understand safety notices and manufacturer’s instruction manuals.

Candidates also need to be physically fit, in good health and should not have problems with eyesight or hearing as the course involves the operating of MEWPs.

For the practical session candidates will need suitable head (hard hat with a chin strap is preferable), eye and footwear including a hi-vis jacket/vest.

The course will consist of classroom-based theory, demonstrations and practical sessions.

Who Should Attend

The Big Kit Familiarisation course is designed for both new and existing operators of powered access equipment, also known as boom and scissor lifts or mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs) to boost their skills and confidence on MEWPs with working heights above 13.7m (boom-type MEWPs) or 10m (scissor-type MEWPs).
