The IPAF Demonstrator Training Course is designed for individuals who need to familiarise others with the safe operation of MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms) in IPAF categories 3A (mobile vertical, e.g. scissor lifts) and 3B (mobile boom, e.g. cherry pickers).
This is not an operator course, instead, it equips delegates with the knowledge and skills required to demonstrate safe use, carry out basic pre-use checks, and communicate key operational procedures to trained users.
It is ideal for anyone who will be demonstrating MEWPs to colleagues, contractors, or site visitors, ensuring safe use of equipment on site in line with IPAF and health and safety regulations.
The course includes a mix of classroom-based tutorials, practical demonstrations, and assessment. Upon completion, candidates will understand how to:
Conduct machine pre-use inspections and safety checks
Identify hazards and explain safe operating procedures
Demonstrate how to safely operate 3A and 3B machines
Understand responsibilities as a Demonstrator
Communicate key safety messages to trained operators
Understand IPAF and UK HSE guidance for MEWP usage
