Welcome to our Birmingham IPAF and MEWP training courses page. Our courses are specially developed to ensure learners gain the best knowledge and the right skills needed to operate powered access equipment safely and lawfully. Our IPAF courses are all accredited by The International Powered Access Federation. Upon completion, learners will be awarded a Powered Access Licence (PAL card) which is valid for 5 years.

What Types of IPAF and MEWP Training are Available?

Here are several different types of IPAF and MEWP training available in Birmingham : 

IPAF Training Birmingham

IPAF 3A and 3B Operator Training: The IPAF 3a and 3b Training Program aims to give learners the skills and knowledge needed to operate a wide range of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs). This includes cherry pickers, a range of mobile booms such as articulated and electric boom lifts, and scissor lifts. Attendees will be taught how to operate and prepare equipment, and how to identify any potential hazards.

IPAF OP - Mobile Vertical/Mobile Boom/Static Boom 3A 3B 1B: Attendees will learn safe operation of a range of MEWPs, such as scissor lifts, boom lifts and cherry pickers. If you’re an MEWP operator or are looking to renew your old operator licence, this course is for you.

IPAF OP - Static Booms 1B: Attendees will learn how to operate static boom lifts safely through a range of learning experiences, such as classroom, hands-on demo, practical and written evaluation.

IPAF Harness Use and Inspection: Learners will gain an understanding of how to inspect, select and don a harness and the legislation involved with harness use, such as work at height. If you’re a supervisor, manager or operative responsible for selecting and inspecting harnesses and lanyards for MEWPs usage, this course is for you.

IPAF Load Unload: You will learn the legislation and proper procedure around loading and unloading. This course will teach you how to conduct transport related safety inspections and safely position vehicles for such tasks.

  • Health and safety regulations for each piece of equipment
  • Best industry standard practices for MEWPs and set by the IPAF
  • Quality techniques to operate, drive and manoeuvre static boom lifts   

PASMA Training Birmingham

PASMA Towers for Users Course: During this PASMA course, learners will gain an insight into how to set up and take down Mobile Aluminium Towers (MAT’s) in a safe manner. The course also aims to teach learners about the potential hazard of handling such equipment. During the PASMA training course, learners will have to learn from hands-on guidance from course conductors. They will also gain an understanding of laws, regulations and safety aspects of handling MATs.
